For some people, that is all they need to enjoy Guild Wars. But for more... let's say conditioned players, some variation to builds and playing styles are needed to truly get the full Guild Wars experience. Changing weapons is just the most basic of the options.
I personally play almost all professions, realizing the different experiences offered by each. My favorite is the Warrior, perhaps the most diverse, powerful, and simply kick-arse profession in the game. One can choose among many different styles of build and play. For example, one can have an insanely high DPS machine, an aggro-controller/backline-watcher who keeps friendly squishies safe from harm while punishing the enemy melees, a knockdown hammer master who keeps enemies near-permanently on their butts, a high-duration dazer, a numerous-condition inflicting warrior, a party-supporting shouting warrior, or even farming, running, and soloing warriors. It is even possible to combine multiple roles into a single build with enough thought and ingenuity.
Warriors are such a favourite of mine because they are so diversified. They have different attributes that make them unique. Of course, you could say that a monk is not unique, but what other game has Protection skills? Aren't most games based on just healing? You may also say that a ranger is not unique, but what about their pets, the Exepertise line, and preparations? All of Guild Wars' professions are very unique, including the Warrior. EVERY MMO that i have heard of has a melee type class, a healing type class, an offensive spellcasting class, and so on; but Guild Wars redefines them in novel ways. Of course, people are going to criticise me for saying that Warriors are versatile and unique. They will say things like "The warrior's only role is tanking! Why are you saying warriors can deal damage and other things???" I am doing this because warriors can play so MANY different roles. I play a warrior. First character made, and last character to be deleted if ever I delete my characters. Of course, Guild Wars would be a very unbalanced game without Warriors, but I am not saying that they shouldn't be around. I love the fact that I'm keeping the hostile sharp/blunt objects off my backline's squishy bodies while I'm mowing down the red dots on my radar at the same time. I encourage everybody to try playing a Warrior the way Warriors are meant to be played, to discover that they are the very ANTITHESIS of a boring profession!

OH MAN...QUOTED FOR TRUTH
/caps off
Really, warrior can be very effective/versatile/deadly and fun in the hands of a very capable person, and with each capable persone's come's a different style of play. I play slightly more defensive then more people it seams but I don't use many condition, but other's do. Every one play his/her warrior differently. The same Can be said abotu any class.
Monk...all you do is spam orison og healing and WoH
Elementist : Meteor shower, searing flame and flare ( j/k )
Mesmer: just spam Backfire and empathy
ect....
you see, any Proffesion can be boring.
Any one can say ____X____ proffesion is boring....
I tried assasin, rits, I have a necro/ranger/monk, but above all I enjoy my monk. SO dont say Proffesion ___X___ is boring caused you said so, other people like them, each class appeals to different people.
When it comes to prefference of class
like the proverd goes: Its all in the eye of the beholder

I've found that no other class is as satisfying as Warrior.
Well, perhaps a searing flames ele, but that's it. I like to get into the heat of battle and hack at the enemy with a big beefy axe. I don't want a wand or a staff or a scythe...gimme a hammer or an axe or a really big sword.
That is satisfying to me. Maybe not to others, but to me...the armor, the weapon, the skills, and the battles...are all fun to play with and customize.
I've created a 55 monk, searing flames ele, and a few other classes....and meh, it just doesn't do it for me.
It was difficult getting the hang of a warrior when I first started. I came from City of Heroes and Villains. WHere the "Tank" really is a tank. So, it was a bit of an adjustment for me. Not to "tank" large groups. however, I still find the warrior class to be fun and the most satisfying to play.
Anyway,my point is.. don't play a warrior if it's not satisfying and fun for you to play. There's no obligation for you to play a class that doesn't suit you.

Warriors are boring to play in PvE generally I kinda agree with the OP.

I personally only play professions where i can change things up. My favorite is the Mesmer, perhaps the most diverse profession in the game. You can choose from many different styles of builds and play. You can have a basic damage dealer, an interrupter, a shutdown memser, an e-denial mesmer, a degen mesmer, a support mesmer, or even farming and soloing mesmers. I also enjoy playing Necromancers, who have basically the same variety, except for interruption and e-denial.
Dervishes are often a favorite of mine because they are diversified. They have different attributes that make them unique. Of course, you could say that a monk is not unique, but what other game has Protection skills? Aren't most games based on just healing? You may also say that a ranger is not unique, but what about thier pets? Theyr Exepertise skills, along with their Preparations and Wilderness Survival skills. All of Guild Wars' professions are very unique except for that of the Warrior. EVERY MMO that i have heard of has a warrior type class, take WoW for example. Of course, people are going to criticise me for saying that Wars dont do anything versatile and unique. They will say things like, but what about shouts, tactics, and strength skills? Wars can farm, solo, and tank! Why are you criticising wars when they can do all of that??? I am doing this because that is ALL they do.... I dont play a warrior. Never have, never will. Of course, Guild Wars would be a very unbalanced game without Warriors, but I am not saying that they shouldnt be around. I love the fact that there is someone taking the heat while i can stay in the backlines and hex and annoy the hell out of people. If people want to play Warriors, by all means do so, but just know that they ARE a VERY boring profession.

I like how you made out all other classes to be unique compared to warriors, thereby making warriors out to be unique from all other professions. And without even realising it, it would seem.
You say that ALL a warrior can do is stances, shouts etc, yet I could flip that around and say ALL a mesmer can do is annoy people with hexes, do degen etc quite easily. That doesn't change your opinion on it does it? It's just what you find fun. I myself like playing a mesmer, it's fun to annoy people with interrupts, but i also like to knock people down and smash their heads with a huge hammer. There's nothing intrinsically "boring" about any class, it boils down to whether or not you like it.
And i just have to point out here that you're incredibly biased, stating that you have and will never play a warrior yet spouting off all these assumptions of what it's like to play one.
But yeah to the point, I totally agree with Halmyr on this. It's is all about preference and opinion. If the OP doesn't like warriors then i don't think anything anyone can say will sway them, you just have to enjoy what you do. I like the thought of a big burly mountain of a man hacking down on something with a huge axe, chopping off limbs and bleeding people etc. Where as proven by a lot of GW gamers, some people like dressing up like a girl (who are men) and casting purple sparkly spells on stuff.
If you don't like it you don't like it, simple as. GW is about fun, so play a class you do like!

Every MMO has a fireball thrower, a healer, a guy with a bow...
WoW classes vs. GW professions vs. D&D classes
Warrior = Warrior = Warrior
Mage = Elementalist = Wizard
Priest = Monk = Cleric
Rouge = Assassin = Rouge
Hunter = Ranger = Ranger
Warlock = Necromancer = uhm.. Wizard lol
etc.
Anyway. Only really unique profession in GW = MESMER

Forgot to add Paragon = Paladin.
I also just reread the OP's last comment. Why roll a warrior for farming, when you could roll a monk instead, the most efficent farmers in the game?

Actually, I'd say that either the Warlock or the Pale Master (prestige class for Arcane casters) fits in better with the whole 'dark magician' theme for a D&D comparison.
Also, there's a HELL of a lot of wizard/sorcerer spells that are very much 'Mesmer' skills - Mirror Image, Dominate Mind, and Color Spray to name a few. Most of the enchantments/charms that bards get make them pretty mesmer-esque... Hey, we have a comparison!
Yeah, not even the mesmer is *truly* unique... Though the styling is pretty spiffy
Yeah, I played BGII and NWN (1 and 2) far too much while my internet was down...

there fix that for you,
DnD, the warrior class is actualy an Npc class, to put it simple, inferior.
Fighter is the proper term for the "warrior" class in DnD
And Again
Just because you think one proffesion is boring, does not make it so.
Every one has there own preference on Fun and Boring. Respect that
alot of what is said here is more of an opinion then fact.
Warrior class are boring for some, exciting for others, respect that.
This goes for every single class's

Cut it down, because this is the important part of any character: finding a role you enjoy. Warriors can do many different things on a team, as can any other profession. As you playu, try moving yourself to different positions, experiment with taking on different roles within the team. Not all elementalists spam damage, not all monks are healing, not all rangers are backline barragers, and not all warriors are frontline tanks. Change up what you do, and you might find a role within a team that you actually enjoy playing. A warrior has a lot of potential to be fun, but it's also easy to get stuck into the "I go in first and hack and slash" mindset. I usually play axe warrior, but it's just fun at times to spec into hammer and work with knockdowns, or switch to sword and spread conditions around (the new crippling slash is my new favorite elite.)
